ReplyDeletePotiche - although saw it as recent as this June, when I'd given it a 6/10, had to look up IMDb to remind me of what it was about. Now that I have, a bit surprised at my low score as memory is that I'd thought more of it. Now, like you, I'd give it a 7.
Shutter Island - I'm with you again in giving it an 8 - but (unless I'm thinking of another recent film of that ilk) I have a recollection of the melodramatic music soundtrack being over-obtrusive, which seems to be quite a regular fault with Scorsese in diminishing the stature of his films.
Ghostbusters - well, is there anyone who has NOT seen it? I haven't viewed it again since all-those-year-back, and I don't particularly want to. I remember it irritating me in being what passes as 'zany', but which I find mind-numbingly silly. This film came out way before I started giving scores, but based on recollection alone I'd be generous in giving it a 4.
Shine a Light - when I last visited my sister in the Summer she'd been given this DVD but had only felt indifference on viewing it. So I put it on - and I too found it unremarkable. I only watched about 2/3 of it - and, despite my not seeing it on a cinema screen, on DVD evidence I'd rate it a 5. (Not as good or as interesting as Scorsese's recent 'George Harrison' compilation.)
Star Trek - Never been a fan, but for some masochistic reason have seen all the feature films. Don't know why I put myself through the ordeal and the expense. 3/10!
HPDH2 - also seen all the HPs but I've found them all very visually tiring to watch, this one being just like all the rest. Maybe I lack a young man's energy. I certainly lack any enthusiasm. In terms of personal 'enjoyment' - just a 4 at best.
I've Loved You So Long - When I compile my Top 10 of the year, this will surely be there. Yes, a good 8/10.
Attack the Block - one of this year's mini-satisfactions. I agree with you again - a pleasingly worthy 7.
And out of the ones you've mentioned which I most wish I'd seen? - 'Happy Endings' and 'Chico & Rita', the latter especially, as it has got some good reviews.

water for elephants was an awful film. would give it 2.
