Day 4 - 2nd June 2012

Rain rain rain!  We left the hotel early and picked up our rental car. Alamo didn't make it easy with some random instructions but we eventually figured it out and now have a Jeep.

Due to the rain, we changed our plans a little and headed to the HUGE outlet mall just south of Boston. En route we passed the New England Patriots stadium. It is a massive stadium and strangely, its miles from anywhere surrounded by forests. The mall took us hours to look round and we only scraped the surface. We both got some clothing bargains and an advantage of shopping in Massachusetts is that the tax is less than in other states we will be visiting.

I should mention that towns and villages up and down the coast for hundreds of miles feature the names of hundreds of English place names: Plymouth, Yarmouth, Barnstable, Norwood, Sandwich, Chatham etc etc.

Our destination was Hyannis, a coastal town that we hear is heaving in the summer. We walked a couple of miles to the beach via the port, in the wind and rain. It was impressive at the beach and we only saw a few people.

We ended the day at a packed Spanky's Clam Shack so Pete could get a seafood fix.
